In a recent interview with NBC News host Kristen Welker, then-Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance, who is currently the vice president, made an effort to defend Vice President Kamala Harris’ record on the southern border, which President Joe Biden assigned to address the issue early in their administration. Millions of illegal immigrants have flooded into the American interior across the southern border under Biden-Harris leadership.
Vance and Welker discussed the border situation, which has grown to be one of Kamala Harris’s most important criticisms, during his interview on “Meet the Press.” Vance opened the conversation about the massive flood of illegal immigrants by saying, “Well, we have to start with the foundational issue here, which is we have 25 million illegal aliens in this country right now because Kamala Harris has refused to do her job.”
“I have very quickly, DHS says it’s much lower, it’s closer to eight million,” Welker said, disputing the number Vance stated. From where do you obtain the twenty-five million? “Well,” Vance retorted, “I believe that the 25 million are the individuals who ought to have been deported but may not have been, plus an additional 12 to 15 million who have entered since Kamala Harris. No matter what the number is—”
Welker interrupted, saying, “For the record, DHS disputes that number.” Please keep going even though they say it’s closer to eight or ten million. As he continued to support his claims, Vance implied that DHS might be significantly underestimating the amount of illegal immigrants. “All right, but I believe there are grounds to believe DHS is underestimating.” Whatever the figure is, it’s excessively high, isn’t it? “Oh,” Vance said. Since Kamala took over as border czar a few years ago, innumerable illegal immigrants have entered the country. First of all—
“She was placed in charge of the root causes of migration,” Welker interrupted once more. “Well, the root cause of migration, I would say, Kristen, is that Kamala Harris refuses to do her job as Border Czar,” Vance retorted, continuing to criticize Vice President Harris’ border record.
Vance has consistently received accolades for his ability to conduct himself in challenging media appearances, skillfully navigating left-wing accusations. Vance’s CNN interview, when he stoked a range of Democratic-led charges against him and the Trump campaign, was recently covered by the American Tribune. “I think it’s an interesting contrast, Jake,” he said in an interview with Jake Tapper, “between what President Trump and I are offering, which is straightforward: we are advancing policies.” They plan to safeguard the southern border, increase middle-class incomes, and reduce the cost of housing and food.
He went on, “And Kamala Harris really can’t keep doing that because her ideas have actually been the root cause of a lot of the issues and suffering that we see in our nation. Instead, the Democrats are making the claim that you are a bad person if you want to vote for Donald Trump because you want to change the course of this nation. Furthermore, that somber message, in my opinion, is completely at odds with the notion that the Democrats are the party of joy. There are many complaints of Donald Trump’s actions and statements, as well as assaults on him, but there aren’t many encouraging ideas about how Kamala Harris will address the nation’s issues.
