Lana Rhoades was one of the most well-known porn stars at the height of her career, but fame also had a “dark side.”
When Lana first entered the adult film business, he was still a teenager. He was a porn actor for about eight months before he decided to give up on the specialized business.
The cause of her departure? A few of the scenes she was required to record.
Even though Lana has been away from porn for a while—she now concentrates on podcasts and YouTube videos—it’s clear that her brief time in the sex industry still had a big impact on her.
In 2022, Lana had an incredibly personal and open conversation on her 3 Girls 1 Kitchen podcast.
She talked about the “humiliating” sequences she was forced to film while working in the business and acknowledged that, prior to pursuing pornography as a vocation, she was “naive” about it.
“This is going to show how naive I was but when I first got into porn I didn’t know I’d have to have sex,” she said.
It failed to process or register. I truly didn’t give the acts I was performing any thought.
Lana had expressed to her agents that she was only interested in filming girl-on-girl content, but they insisted that she wouldn’t be signed if she didn’t do boy/girl videos.
Eventually agreeing to do so, she found her managers started to sign her up for more extreme content so they’d make more money.
“They would glamourise doing more for less money because it would make more for them,” Lana shared.
“They don’t care about the girls, they only care about pleasing the producers and film agencies.”
Lana said she was never made to perform against her will, but also didn’t feel like she was in a position to say no to certain roles.
But as she grew more popular, the requests became more extreme.
Sharing some of the horror stories she’d heard off fellow stars, Lana recalled: “I have had friends who have been choked out so much they’ve actually passed out during a scene.
“There’s just really crazy stuff going on that damages people’s bodies for the rest of their lives.”
Lana claimed that although she wasn’t physically hurt, the porn had a negative effect on her mental health, forcing her to seek counseling later.
The 27-year-old gave examples of some of the scenes that stuck with her, saying: “There were 3-5 that were really traumatic for me; it can be anything from being forced to do something that I was afraid to do because it was too extreme to being sent to a set with someone who was way too old.
“I would say that’s the 100% contributor to why I left the industry.”
She said that although she had been out of the business for years, being a porn star was a “life sentence” that she “couldn’t run from.”
She went on to say that as a result, she had suicidal thoughts and depression.
After overcoming her mental health issues, Lana has since advocated for the outlawing of pornography.
On The Skinny Confidential podcast, she stated, “Going back to porn, I just I don’t think that it’s good for anyone they should make it illegal.”
Lana said, “I don’t think it’s good for anybody.”
