During a DOGE subcommittee hearing, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) delivered a blistering speech in which he criticized the Democrats for decades of wasteful and fraudulent spending, blamed the administrative state for a reported $2.7 trillion spent by blue bureaucrats, and criticized the left for using Elon Musk as a scapegoat.
For background, on February 12, 2025, the Subcommittee on Delivering Government Efficiency had its inaugural hearing. During the hearing, a number of expert witnesses presented strategies to enhance government payment systems, lower federal fraud, and ultimately save money for US taxpayers. Representative Brandon Gill, a Republican from Texas, was one of these expert witnesses.
Rep. Gill criticized the Biden Administration and the Democratic Party in general for continuing a pattern of excessive spending and incorrect payments that began in 2003 during the hearing on February 12. “The Democrat Party has for decades systematically grown and weaponized the administrative state against the American people,” Rep. Gill said at the start of the hearing, which was televised by Fox News. Additionally, the American people are fed up with it.
Refusing to back down, Rep. Gill blamed Democrats, especially liberal media sites, for utilizing fraud and waste to finance their agenda. “It’s funding media outlets that regularly run coverage for Democrats, like NPR, PBS, BBC, and Politico,” Gill clarified.
Rep. Gill also made a direct link between the cultural shift in the United States and elsewhere and bureaucratic communist financial malfeasance. “[Federal waste] is going to finance left-wing NGOs that are enabling the invasion of our nation,” Gill added. It will finance sex reform and left-wing transgender advocacy worldwide.
Rep. Gill continued his statement by calling the Democrats’ widespread fraud a type of money laundering and bitterly admitting that the left doesn’t seem to be sorry. “The other side of the aisle could care less,” said Rep. Gill, who called the scam “the biggest money laundering scandal in American history.”
Rep. Gill delivered a last indictment of the Democrats as he wrapped up his testimony, detailing how the party was using Elon Musk as a scapegoat rather than accepting accountability for its deeds. “They don’t care where this money went, what organizations it went to, who the governments are, who the people or groups are,” Gill stated. “All they want to talk about is Elon Musk all the time.”
