Speaking about the wildfire close to her home, the actress and producer became quite upset during her Wednesday, January 8 interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Though we sometimes forget that these celebrities are just people and that Hollywood is their home, people frequently have strong feelings about Hollywood and its stars.
Thousands have been touched by the tragic wildfires in Los Angeles, including 66-year-old actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who was personally impacted by the tragedy.
When Curtis discovered that the fire was quickly getting closer to her Pacific Palisades home, she had just boarded a plane to New York City for her planned performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
As the fire ravaged their neighborhood, many of her neighbors lost everything, even though she later acknowledged that her home had been spared.
“I am literally on the verge of tears.”
Curtis was originally on The Tonight Show to promote her new movie, The Last Showgirl, but she broke down in tears when the subject of the fires was brought up before she could talk about the production.
I am on the verge of tears. “Mostly because of that lovely welcome,” she said, responding to the cheers of the audience. One fervent admirer in the audience even exclaimed, “You’re gorgeous!”
“As you know, where I live is on fire right now,” she added, crying. The entire Pacific Palisades city is literally on fire.
“I flew here last night,” she said, describing the moment she learned how serious the situation was. I began receiving texts when I was in the aircraft. You guys, it’s f**ing gnarly. Southern California is simply a disaster.
“Obviously, there have been horrific fires in many places,” Curtis said, expressing her sorrow for those impacted. This is my actual residence. Everything. the marketplace where I shop. the schools where my children go. Numerous, numerous, numerous friends have now lost their homes.
made a sincere request
She swore to get back to L.A. as quickly as possible, the enormity of the destruction evident in her voice. As it stands, the situation is quite terrible. It goes without saying that I will return home first thing tomorrow to spend time with my family and attempt to assist my friends.
After that, Curtis really pleaded with the crowd to help the American Red Cross. Support the American Red Cross whether you know someone on the West Coast or not. They will enter and assist others. Take any action you can. Whether you need it now or not, you will eventually need something that helps others in your community. Donate, give blood, or do anything else.
Curtis also used the occasion to emphasize the value of readiness in his capacity as an American Red Cross ambassador. “Keep an emergency kit with everything you’ll need in case you need to escape, including prescription glasses, medications, dog food, and baby formula.”
Later, she posted a devastating image to Instagram that showed the burned-out remnants of her cherished Pacific Palisades church. She commented, “I got sober in this church in the Palisades 25 years ago. It was a beautiful house of worship with a beautiful Sunday school and school.”
“I think of all of the souls who came there for comfort and solace and all of the baptisms and funerals and weddings and the thousands of people who reclaimed their lives through sobriety,” she continued, reflecting on the significance of the event.
Desires to spend time with her family
Curtis, who is married to screenwriter Christopher Guest and has two children, Ruby, 25, and Annie, 34, reaffirmed her resolve to go back home to be with her family and support those impacted. “The situation is truly terrible,” she remarked. “Today, I will return home to be with my family and attempt to assist my friends.”
At least five people have already died as a result of the fires, which have destroyed 2,000 buildings to ash and left thousands of citizens without everything. Despite dry and windy circumstances, emergency responders are relentlessly fighting to contain the fires and avoid more damage.
Curtis’ heartfelt appeal serves as a reminder of the strength of community and the pressing need to assist those impacted. Let’s remember everyone affected by this tragedy and lend a hand however we can.
