New York Attorney General Letitia James went nuts in a press conference about the Trump Administration’s newest efforts against her state. In particular, the state AG, known for her lawfare campaign against Trump, lost it over the Trump Administration’s decision to withhold payments to New York for refusing federal immigration policies.
Background: The Trump DOJ is investigating AG James. Trump AG Pam Bondi stated, “We’re here today because we have filed charges against the state of New York. We charged Kathy Hochul. We charged Letitia James and DMV employee Mark Schroeder.” James also disobeyed Trump’s child protection order, and her state has been recalcitrant on immigration.
In any case, AG James started a press conference tirade over the Trump Administration’s decision to stop making “Payment to the state of New York and to states all across this nation, it is unacceptable, unconstitutional, ultra bias[ed].”
She said that DOGE, in striving to minimize government waste and abuse, is operating beyond the law and must be fought by AGs like her. She stated, “They have exceeded their authority, and so it’s important that attorneys general representing our respective States stand up and enforce the rule of law.”
She added, “Because Elon Musk, individuals at the Treasury and the President of these United States is not above the law, and we will continue.” her office will fight Trump and Musk’s funding changes.
She then stated that she and her colleagues blue state attorneys general had been prepared for a legal fight against Trump, albeit they didn’t want it. As attorneys general, we’ve prepared for this, she said. The conclusion was not what we wanted.” Here, watch her:
X (previously Twitter) posters pounced on the clip. One remarked, “Ouch, With Trump stopping office payments, Leticia James is again ready to get Trump.” New Yorkers must again pay for her vendettas. It appears that taxpayers in the other 49 states will not.”
Contributing, conservative X personality Benny Johnson criticized AG James for her irrational outburst, stating, “Let’s check in on Letitia James…” Quite surprising. She’s yelling at Elon Musk, Trump, and DOGE for slashing New York funds. Just another delusional meltdown.”
Turning Point USA founder and conservative political analyst Charlie Kirk argued that if New York AG Letitia James is angry, Trump is on the correct track, citing her rant against Elon Musk, Trump, and DOGE for slashing funding to New York. If Big Letitia is upset, we’re doing well.”
