Marianna Bowering,on May 6,2018, gave birth to a cute girl, with gorgeous eyes, button nose, and a really special heart-shaped port wine stain birthmark on her face, who she named, Angelica.
“The worst comment online that I’ve gotten is when someone asked if her face had been pushed onto a skillet. Basically, saying her face looked grilled,” the mother stated.
Even though many of her friends and family are treating Angelica’s birthmark as normal, there are still people who comment this unique piece on her face, the moment they see her.
Marianna added that her daughter had endured hurtful comments, being called hurtful stuff as “ugly” and a “defective.” The lack of empathy and rudeness of these words made it really hard for their family. Despite the rude comments, Bowering is doing everything in her power to make sure her cute little daughter grows up knowing that she’s beautiful just the way she is, and however, their strength and unwavering resolve to conquer these hurdles ultimately resulted in an incredible transformation.
Recently, the 27-year-old mother decided to use makeup and paint a copy of 5-year-old daughter’s birthmark on her own face.
“I got the idea from vascular birthmark awareness day, where they encourage people to paint a heart on the cheeks,” Bowering stated. “Initially I just did the heart with my makeup look but then I thought why don’t I go all out and do Angelica’s port wine stain.
Wanted to be as beautiful as my daughter so I did my makeup to look exactly like my little stunner! She’s still prettier…” Marianna posted on Saturday, May 16, 2020
Marianna was distraught when some people suggested that her daughter’s facial spots would fade over time, while others suggested that Angelica could simply conceal them with makeup if she wished. Bur the mother was not really happy with this suggestions because why would her beautiful girl would want to hide her natural beauty.
It was a heartbreaking reminder of the harsh realities faced by those who do not conform to conventional standards of beauty, but it also underscored the importance of acceptance and love for all individuals, regardless of their appearance.
In fact, both Bowering and her husband never saw their daughter’s birthmark as something they or she should feel ashamed of, but instead, they were constantly trying to ensure that it is recognized as something worthy of celebration. Except the matching “birthmark,” Bowering also dressed up Angelica’s port wine stain with glitter to “make it shine.”
Children with port wine stains on their faces are at risk for developing other health conditions, but Bowering told TODAY that Angelica is healthy.
“Thankfully, we’ve done tests and Angelica is totally healthy,” Bowering said. “We just need to have regular check-ups, especially for her eyes as glaucoma can be a concern.”
Angelica, you’re absolutely beautiful and don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
Marianna, thank you for being an amazing mama and continuously showing your daughter there’s nothing wrong with her birthmark.
