Parents Threaten To Sue School After Girl Is Served Insane-Looking ‘Barnacle Burger’

Although we generally expect our kids to get a nutritious and reasonably tasty lunch when they are eating at school, that’s not always the case. Thanks to technology and smartphones, kids are capturing images of the foods schools are serving, and they are not always the most appetizing-looking meals. Some of them look downright disgusting.

TikTok user @thatscrazy_64 created an account to showcase a cheeseburger she was allegedly served at school. The patty looked like it was covered in barnacles, which was pretty unappetizing to the student, quickly earning it the name “barnacle burger.” She took pics of the burger and showed it to her parents, who then contacted the school. They were not happy with the school’s response and reportedly plan to sue.

The burger looked strange.

She originally posted the videos in a two-part series in December 2023. A caption warns, “This is your sign to stop eating school lunch,” followed by an image of what the student considered a questionable burger.

The patty appears pitted, and the color seems a bit gray. The original poster was totally grossed out and showed her mom, who was seemingly equally as concerned and contacted school administrators.

Her mom sent an email to the school.
A second TikTok shows a message the concerned mother sent to her daughter’s school regarding the “most disgusting food items” she had ever seen. She said the burger had a strange texture and a foul smell.

“This incident not only affected my child’s/student’s lunch experience but raises concerns about the amount of students who unknowingly ate this very lunch,” the email reads. “As a parent, there is absolutely no reason why anyone should be served such a thing. The look of the burger itself is sickening and I will be pressing charges; Due to the lack of food regulations being put in place, I believe it is crucial to ensure that the food provided in our school meets the necessary standards of quality, freshness, and safety. I look forward to speaking with you in court,” the mom wrote.

The school clapped back.
According to the school board’s response, the food was fine, and if the mother and daughter didn’t like it, the school had a suggestion.

“Although there is a slight discoloration with the meat, it is still edible,” the email response reads. “If you or your daughter have an issue with the lunch being served, don’t eat it. Packing a lunch is still an option.”

TikTokers were pretty grossed out.

The burger doesn’t look very tasty, and TikTokers were quick to point that out.

“I wish I didn’t see that picture,” someone wrote.

It triggered a lot of people’s fears.

“I don’t even have trypophobia but I think this is how you get it,” one person commented.

The school’s response also made people angry.

“‘Don’t eat it’ would have absolutely sent me into a rage,” someone commented, and people agreed.

Another person wrote, “ONLY DISCOLRED?? Nahh that’s a lawsuit right there.”

Others claimed it was normal.
Some people commented that OP just doesn’t know how to cook and suggested that what she saw was totally normal.

“This is normal with frozen burgers or ones with grid patterns. Pressing charges is wild,” one comment reads.

Another person agreed, commenting, “America sue for everything.”

And this person says it’s just a little grease: “The ‘barnacle burger’ is simply consisted of your average burger meat creating air bubbles that eventually pop due to juices.”
