“No Rogue Rulings”: GOP Congress Delivers Significant Win for Trump against Progressive, Activist Judges

The House of Representatives, under GOP leadership, has delivered a significant victory to President Donald Trump and his administration. If this measure is approved by the Senate, it could lead to a substantial change in the influence that activist judges have over the administration. The passing of The No Rogue Rulings Act marked a significant victory, as it restricts district court judges from issuing nationwide injunctions.

President Trump has faced ongoing challenges in executing his preferred policies, including the deportation of gang members linked to terrorist organizations like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. This is largely due to activist judges within the district court system who issue injunctions that must subsequently be appealed to the Supreme Court.

The House of Representatives has acted against certain judges with the No Rogue Rulings Act, which was approved by a near-unanimous vote among Republicans on Wednesday, April 9. Every Republican representative, except for one, supported the bill, while no Democrats cast their votes in favor.

Rep. Derek Schmidt (R-KS) spoke to Fox News Digital about the importance of the bill, stating that it would restrict plaintiffs from “judge shopping” and selecting a progressive judge who aligns with their case for political motives instead of pursuing true justice. In a detailed explanation, Rep. Schmidt remarked, “Many things are labeled as commonsense in this place, but this one truly is.”

Continuing, the conservative lawmaker pointed out that district court judges have brought the bill upon themselves through their excessive use of nationwide injunctions, stating, “The fundamental policy of attempting to curb the overuse of nationwide injunctions was previously supported by Democrats.” It currently has the backing of Republicans, and I’m optimistic that this vote will receive support from both sides.

Additionally, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX), who serves on the House Judiciary Committee with Rep. Schmidt, also contributed to the discussion. He informed Fox News that district court judges, by acting in such an activist manner, have demonstrated a need for legislation that restrains their actions. He stated, “Numerous lower court judges appointed by Democrats have behaved like activist liberal lawyers in robes while trying to hinder President Trump’s nationwide reforms.” The No Rogue Rulings Act curtails this unrestrained authority.

Another Republican lawmaker who spoke to Fox News Digital on the issue was Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-IA), who contended that unelected judges should not have the authority to obstruct the president’s campaign agenda. Rep. Feenstra stated, “Over 77 million Americans cast their votes in support of [Trump’s] pro-American policies and are eager to see them put into action swiftly.” There is no justification for activist judges, whose authority is not national, to be permitted to entirely halt [his] agenda.
