The Best Miranda Lambert ACM Moments: Shade at Blake Shelton and More

Let’s revisit Miranda Lambert’s massive shade at Blake Shelton, her ex-husband, ahead of the ACM Awards this week.

Miranda sang a medley of classics including “Kerosene” and “Gunpowder and Lead” at a former ACM Awards, but the big surprise was when she altered the lyrics to “Little Red Wagon”. Instead of “I live in Oklahoma,” she boomingly sang, “I got the hell out of Oklahoma.”

She had been singing the song with the new lyric for some time, but it was the first time she had done it with Blake in the same room. Blake is from Oklahoma. Fans naturally wanted to know his reply. Though minor, everyone was expecting to see Blake’s face on television.

However, Miranda has the freedom to modify the lyrics because she no longer lives in Oklahoma. But Blake in the audience added a little fire to that performance, and we adore her for it.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s Special Song “Over You”

Miranda and Blake get along despite their jokes. She said their song “Over You” about Blake’s late brother is meaningful. Miranda said, “I’m glad we shared that song and that it helped his family heal, to have that together.”

Miranda Lambert Slams Ashton Kutcher at 2012 ACMs

Miranda Lambert’s 2012 ACM speech on Ashton Kutcher’s embarrassing performance was another famous moment. Before announcing the Female Vocalist candidates, Kutcher, dressed as a cowboy clown, smashed George Strait’s “I Cross My Heart”. The concert was unpleasant, and many country fans wondered why Ashton, a non-country musician, was on stage.

While Ashton is a country fan (his level of fandom might be debatable), his performance was widely seen as a mockery of the genre. Miranda, however, didn’t hold back when she later admitted her discomfort, calling it a “dumb moment in ACM history.”

However, a month later, when Miranda met Ashton at the Kentucky Derby, she shared that Ashton “loved real country music,” which helped soften the blow.

Was Ashton Kutcher making fun of country or is it just me? Watching it back now and I'm kinda wondering?
