Khloe Kardashian can’t believe her son, Tatum Thompson, is already one year old as she celebrates his first birthday with a tribute on Instagram. She shared a series of photos of Tatum and some of the memories he’s making with his mom, sister (True Thompson), and cousins as he lives out his best life.
I am a firm believer in that God gives you what you need and I needed you. God knew my heart needed you. I needed your sweet and precious Smile. I needed your angelic spirit. I needed a love only you could give me. I needed my son,” she wrote at the beginning of her caption before gushing over his personality.
She went on to express how proud she is to be his mother and how proud she is of the ‘love and laugher we have in our house.’ She praised her son for his ‘beautiful, gentle, loving, infectious spirit’ and marveled at his ability to ‘light up every single room’ – while also acknowledging the close bond he has with True.
Tatum, You have changed mine and True’s lives forever. We both needed you. I knew she would be a fantastic, loving older sister, but I don’t think I ever could’ve imagined the love and bond you guys already have,” she continued – adding he makes True smile all the time and she’s ‘so proud to call [Tatum] hers.’
Khloe concluded her touching tribute by reciting the famous ‘You Are My Sunshine’ lullaby, except she changed the lyrics slightly: “You are my SONshine / My only SONshine / You make me happy / Everyday / You’ll never quite know dear / How much I love you / But I’ll do my best and show you everyday.”
The post comes just two months after Khloe Kardashian revealed her son’s name for the first time – he was already 10 months old at the time. She originally didn’t want to wait that long before revealing it, but she wanted to wait until the Season 3 premiere of The Kardashians for the reveal – which she did.
In that same episode, she talked about the surrogacy process and the many challenges that come with it. She admitted to having a ‘really hard time accepting the whole process’ – calling it the ‘weirdest thing’ – and said she feels l’less connected’ to her son as a result, especially compared to her daughter, True.
On July 27, Khloe Kardashian posted similarly-touching birthday tributes for her 89-year-old grandmother, Mary Jo Campbell (Kris Jenner’s mother), and 17-year-old Amari Thompson – who is the younger brother of Tristan Thompson. We recently learned that both Tristan and Amari currently live with Khloe.

Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson have had their ups and downs, but they do an excellent job of putting their differences aside in order to give their children the best life possible. Even when she found out his mother passed away, she dropped everything she was doing and made sure to be there for him
