I Refused to Travel With My Fiancé After He Put My Kids in Economy Instead of First Class
A mom refused to travel with her fiancé after he booked first-class tickets for himself and his kids, but put her kids in economy class. This decision caused a lot of discussion on social media, with many people praising the mom for standing up for her kids and wanting them to be treated equally.
Here’s what happened:
My fiancé has 3 kids from his first marriage, and I have 2 from mine. I quit my job to focus on getting my degree. He earns most of the money now, but I still help with my savings. I also do most of the childcare and housework.
He wanted me and my kids to go to Thanksgiving with his family across the country, so he booked our tickets. But before the flight, I found out he put himself, his kids, and me in first class, but my 2 kids (14 and 10) were in economy.
I was shocked. He acted like it was no big deal and said it was just a few hours and the kids could “handle it.” When I asked how he thought this was okay, he got mad and said since he paid for the tickets, we had to follow his rules.
I immediately took my kids and left the airport. He followed us, yelling for us to come back, but I refused. I told him I didn’t want to spend Thanksgiving with his family after this. My youngest cried because she never flew without me.
He went with his kids, and my kids and I stayed home. He hasn’t stopped calling to criticize me, and his mom texted me saying I should stop teaching my kids to be spoiled and that missing Thanksgiving over something small shows my true character.
I haven’t replied, but I feel terrible. Should I have just let it go and gone?
