A 24-year-old woman was left scarred after her husband asked her for a paternity test for their daughter.
Their daughter was pale-skinned and looked like one of the woman’s officemates, which sparked the man’s doubt.
When they finally did the DNA test, he and his family couldn’t believe the results.
A woman had three sons with her husband, who were his spitting image. When they welcomed their daughter, she looked nothing like him. Their daughter had platinum blonde hair, was pale-skinned, and had a different green eye color.
When the woman gave birth, her husband couldn’t even bear to hold their child. The woman shared her sticky situation on Reddit, and people generously told her what to do. While others felt it was worth giving their marriage another shot, others thought it was time to say goodbye.
The Woman’s Husband Believed She Cheated
When the woman was pregnant with their daughter, she’d gotten close to an older male co-worker. He was extra friendly not only to her but also to another female co-worker.
The man would give them coffee each morning and sometimes leave flowers on their desks. The woman thought nothing of this because the man was happily married and always gushed about his family. He never made advances as well.
However, this didn’t sit well with her husband. He asked her to cut ties with that co-worker, but she refused. This led to a fight until he eventually forgot about it. When their daughter was born, the man’s anger resurfaced.
Their daughter had the same eye color and skin tone as the woman’s older co-worker. After giving birth, the man demanded they undergo a paternity test. The woman refused, thinking it was humiliating and unnecessary.
She insisted their daughter looked exactly like her great-grandparents, but the man wouldn’t budge. He was keen on finding out whether his wife cheated on him.
The Man’s Family Made Her Feel Unwelcome
To make matters worse, the man’s family got involved. His parents turned their backs on her. Her husband refused to help with any of the caretaking. He didn’t help her with anything, and it hurt the woman because he wasn’t the same way when it came to their sons.
Finally, the woman decided to do the paternity test after everyone visited for her son’s birthday without speaking a word to her. Her husband’s mom chose to seclude their daughter and not allow her to be in the grandchildren’s photo.
To everyone but the woman’s surprise, the paternity test returned positive. Everybody immediately felt guilty and apologized to the woman for how they treated her.
Finally, the woman’s husband carried their daughter for the first time and cried. He apologized profusely and always cried every time he held their daughter.
The woman forgave her husband because she felt he was being genuine. As for his family? The woman doesn’t want to deal with them. In the end, the woman gave her husband an ultimatum: they either move to the woman’s home country or they get divorced
She told him she was already speaking to a divorce lawyer, and that was when he realized she was serious. The man agreed to his wife and said he’d do anything to earn her forgiveness.
Last but not least, the woman said she didn’t want to be in contact with her husband’s family ever again because she didn’t want her kids to be treated the way she was.
Other than moving to a new place and cutting ties with the man’s family, the couple decided to go to couples and individual therapy to work on their problems. She assured everyone that things were going well between them, and she hoped it stayed that way.
People on the internet couldn’t help but feel for the woman. “Fighting a mother that just gave birth and her husband just let it happen? I couldn’t forgive him, even if I wanted to,” one wrote. “She should go no contact with her husband, he sounds awful,” another echoed.
