In significant news for MAGA Americans frustrated with the judiciary’s attempts to obstruct President Trump’s agenda through quickly overturned orders and rulings, a Democrat judge in New Mexico has resigned after U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested an alleged Tren de Aragua gang member residing in his home.
In context, President Trump designated Tren de Aragua as a terrorist organization. “Tren de Aragua (TdA) is classified as a Foreign Terrorist Organization with thousands of members, many of whom have illegally entered the United States and are engaging in irregular warfare and carrying out hostile actions against the United States,” he stated in a proclamation made in mid-March.
He continued, stating, “TdA works alongside Cártel de los Soles, a narco-terrorism organization supported by the Nicolas Maduro regime in Venezuela, engaging in heinous acts such as murders, kidnappings, extortions, and the trafficking of humans, drugs, and weapons.” TdA has participated in and continues to partake in large-scale illegal migration to the United States to advance its aims of endangering United States citizens, compromising public safety, and aiding the Maduro regime’s objective of destabilizing democratic countries in the Americas, including the United States.
The arrested illegal alien was affiliated with Tren de Aragua. He was apprehended while attempting to enter the country, as reported by Border Hawk News, close to Eagle Pass, Texas. However, he was subsequently released on immigration parole because of overcrowding, and after his release, he resided with the Democrat judge.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that court documents indicate he met Nancy Cano, the wife of Judge Cano, while working on construction and handyman jobs, and he accepted her invitation to stay in a casita located behind her home. In April 2024, Ortega-Lopez submitted a request for immigration relief, indicating the Las Cruces address as his residence.
The judge in question is Judge Jose “Joel” Cano, who transitioned from being a police officer to a judge in 2011. On March 3, 2025, he submitted his letter of resignation, as reported by Border Hawk News. This occurred just days after Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) El Paso, acting on an anonymous tip, arrested the illegal alien gangster, Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, at a residence in Las Cruces owned by Judge Cano.
On X, Wild Lyman, a reporter and founder of Border Hawk News, remarked, “Las Cruces, New Mexico: A Doña Ana County magistrate judge has unexpectedly resigned amid suspicious circumstances and a potential link to an alleged Tren de Aragua affiliate.”
