Just when you think you’ve seen everything there is to see about Tom Selleck, the Magnum P.I. legend goes and surprises you again.
He might be knocking on the door to 80, but the famous Hollywood heartthrob retains his devilish good looks and rugged aesthetic even today. The iconic actor recently spoke to PEOPLE Magazine about his work in the industry over the past four decades, and the accompanying images from a rare photoshoot at his ranch set fans’ tongues to wagging.
As per reports, Selleck has a new memoir, You Never Know, due out on May 4, 2024, wherein he describes his acting career as “accidental”. Needless to say, there are a lot of people looking forward to combing through its pages upon release.
It’s safe to assume that Tom Selleck can be proud of all he’s done in the film and TV industry. Having long since cemented his legacy on Magnum P.I., the actor continues to draw praise for his performances. His latest wave of fans come courtesy of his work on Blue Bloods, now in its final season, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ended up plying his talents elsewhere in the coming years.
Indeed, Selleck may be 79 years old, but to look at him you’d guess he was younger by ten years.
The actor recently sat down with PEOPLE Magazine at his 63-acre ranch in Ventura County, California, explaining that he ended up acting simply because he wanted “to get a job”.
“People would say, ‘Oh, he was bitten by the acting bug’ or, ‘He wanted to be a star.’ I’ve never talked that way in my life. I just wanted to get a job and work,” Selleck said.
And work he certainly did. Selleck’s glittering career started all the way back in the 1960s, and it’s testament to his star power and undeniable charm that he’s still garnering new admirers even today.
Part of his appeal has always been his famous good looks, appreciated by women, well, everywhere for decades. On that front it would appear as though Father Time is having difficulty in slowing the actor down. Some readers may remember how the 79-year-old sparked concern among his fans last year, having been papped while out and about dressed in jogging attire and sporting a greying beard.

In a rare public outing at the end of September he was photographed while driving his pickup truck near his house, Page Six, who got hold of the pictures, reported.
The actor looked virtually unrecognizable having ditched his signature mustache. Instead, he rocked a full beard as he ran errands in the San Fernando Valley.
