Adela Calin, a 43-year-old social media influencer, was enjoying her Saturday night with a group of friends at a Miranda Lambert concert in Las Vegas on July 15 when the country music singer took the life out of the party. The group was taking a photo towards the end of the show when they got called out.
Lambert’s singing came to an abrupt stop and the singer addressed the crowd. “I’m gonna stop right here for a sec,” Lambert said midway through a song – the moment was captured by a fellow concert-goer. “These girls are worried about a selfie and not listening to the song, and it’s pissing me off a little bit.”
Miranda Lambert stops show to call out two fans taking a selfie:
“These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song, it’s pissing me off a little bit. Sorry, I don’t like it at all. We’re here to hear some country music tonight. I’m singing some country… pic.twitter.com/sERBzalpBI

At the time, the crowd cheered in support of Lambert – further embarrassing the group of friends, who were just trying to capture the moment with a photo. As the video clip went viral, the support for Lambert shrunk and social media users started to defend Calin and her friends. Now, Calin is speaking out.
“It was 30 seconds at most,” Adela Calin said of the time it took to take the picture before they returned to their seats – adding that they ‘took the picture quickly and were going to sit back down.’ Before they could get to that point, Miranda Lambert was already in the midst of stopping her song to call the group out.
Calin said she was ‘appalled’ at the way Lambert belittled them in front of thousands of people. She and her group of friends had been trying to get a good picture at the show – adding that they had some of the best seats in the house – but the lighting was never right. That is, until that moment – which went haywire.
Adela Calin ended up taking to her Instagram to share with her followers the two photos that were taken just before Lambert made her comments. “These are the 2 pictures we were [taking] when Miranda Lambert stopped her concert and told us to sit down and not take selfies,” she wrote in the caption.
“It felt like I was back at school with the teacher scolding me for doing something wrong and telling me to sit down back in my place,” she said. “… I feel like she was determined to make us look like we were young, immature and vain. But we were just grown women in our 30s to 60s trying to take a picture.”
Miranda Lambert Fans Have Mixed Reactions
In the days since the video and subsequent photo went viral, Miranda Lambert and Adela Calin have received mixed reactions from fans regarding who was right and who was wrong. Some fans feel Lambert was harsh with her comments, while others feel Calin and her friends shouldn’t have taken the photo.
“I was sitting right behind the pit and saw how she treated you ladies. I also saw your faces after the fact. I cannot believe how she acted. I’m absolutely disgusted to be honest. Sorry you experienced that side of celebrity. I have the video of her telling y’all to sit down. It’s so gross,” one user wrote in the comments.

“She’s singing a deeply emotional song about her divorce and you’re standing up right in front with your backs to her trying to get your moment. Good for her,” a user wrote in support of Lambert, while another added, “You chose one of her most intimate songs to stand up and take a selfie. It was rude af.”
Everyone is going to have their own opinion about what went down at that concert, but we now know how it made Adela Calin and her friends feel. Unfortunately, Miranda Lambert has yet to voice her side of the story – outside of what she said at the concert. We’ll have to wait and see if that changes in the future.
