White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Elon Musk and the DOGE team discovered wasteful and fraudulent government spending, but she wanted to leave some details vague and reserve the full reveal for President Trump.
In January 2025, SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk launched the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to identify and eliminate government waste and fraud. Since then, DOGE has overhauled dozens of federal departments, saving billions of dollars.
In an April 4 Fox News interview, President Trump said DOGE found something “horrible” while excavating. The president said, “They found something today that’s horrible. Horrible. You’ll learn soon.”
In a news conference on April 8, 2025, Karoline Leavitt informed journalists that DOGE had revealed something significant. Leavitt acknowledged a discovery. I regret leaving you on a precipice, but I don’t want to outdo the president. But I can confirm a discovery. Not ready for release yet.”
After the White House discoveries, many conservatives have supported DOGE’s work on X (previously Twitter) and called for more to halt the bureaucratic left’s wastefulness. @junogsp7 asked, “DOGe (sic) keeps discovering plenty of blatant fraud, but are any indictments forthcoming? Hope so!”
User @ohio_buckeye_us supported DOGE on X, hoping the department’s activities will lead to corrupt government officials’ arrests, stating, “Maybe the first shocking arrest is coming soon. I hope that day comes soon. We will only sense justice served then.”
Following that, critics commented on Trump’s strange words. One response said, “We discussed this last night. Hard to think it could be worse than what they uncovered. My worst fear is a connection to the assassination attempts.”
