At Don Lugo High School in California, Officer Ryan Tillman, a beloved school resource officer, came up with a special way to say goodbye to the pupils.
After being promoted to Chino Police Corporal, Tillman was about to quit his job at the school, where he had developed great bonds.
But Tillman chose a more memorable farewell rather than the usual tearful one.
During a school assembly, Officer Tillman organized a surprise dance performance in collaboration with the principal and dance squad.
When discussing his choice with NBC Los Angeles, he stated,
“I reasoned that dancing would be a great way to make a big exit.”
With a humorous, memorable event, he was leaving a lasting impression rather than merely bidding farewell.
The hall erupted in enthusiasm when Tillman joined the dance students on stage as the assembly got underway. The dance began as Lil Mama’s “Lip Gloss” began to play.
Although dancing in front of high school students may seem out of the ordinary for a police officer, Officer Tillman proved he was more than just an officer—he had moves!
As Tillman demonstrated his dancing skills, the students cheered.
Another school resource officer praised Tillman’s bravery in a comment:
Even though I work as an SRO, I could never stand up and dance in front of the staff and students. Well done for doing it. The delicate balance that SROs must maintain with the youth at their schools is often overlooked.
There was more to the performance.
When the music changed to “U Can’t Touch This” by MC Hammer halfway through the routine, Tillman transported the audience to the 1990s by performing well-known dancing steps.
He won over the audience even more when he performed MC Hammer’s shuffle flawlessly.
The enthusiasm in the room surged to new heights, and the cheers became louder.
As Tillman performed a variety of songs and acts, he kept the crowd enthralled.
Even more impressive was the fact that he wore his full police gear and kept up with the other dancers.

The students weren’t the only ones entertained by Officer Tillman’s performance.
His dance demonstrated his sense of humor and commitment to fostering goodwill among the school community.
According to NBC Los Angeles, he stated that he wanted to “shine a positive light” on police officers while also expressing gratitude to the staff and pupils.
Tillman has a strong desire to strengthen ties within the community.
In order to “bridge the gap between law enforcement and the communities they serve,” he established Breaking Barriers United.
Promoting openness and solid relationships between cops and the public are the group’s goals.
Since then, the video of Officer Tillman’s farewell dance has gone viral and won people around.
