Rick Harrison, the inventor of Pawn Stars, is in mourning for his son Adam Harrison, who died unexpectedly on Friday, January 19.
According to his spokeswoman Laura Herlovich, Adam, 39, unfortunately died from an overdose, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Details about the circumstances, such as when and where the overdose occurred, are still unknown. TMZ was the first to report on Adam’s death. His sudden death has prompted an inquiry by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
Herlovich sent a brief statement on behalf of the Harrison family, who are still in mourning over Adam’s passing, stating: “Our family is extremely saddened by the death of Adam.” As we mourn his passing, we kindly request privacy.
Adam was Corey Harrison’s younger brother and the second child of Rick Harrison’s first marriage to Kim. Later on, Rick remarried Tracy, and the two of them have a son named Jake.
Adam apparently worked at the family’s business, Gold & Silver Pawn, prior to the 2009 premiere of the popular reality series Pawn Stars, which stars Rick and Corey. However, Adam did not appear on the show. He had not, however, been actively involved with the pawn store lately.
Rick sent a moving ode to his son on Instagram following the announcement of Adam’s overdose. Rick commented, “You will always be in my heart!” next to a picture of himself and Adam grinning at a pub. Adam, I adore you.
Adam shared his sorrow on Instagram, as did his older brother Corey, with whom he shared a strong relationship. A tragic snapshot of Corey holding a picture of the two brothers playing together in a bathtub as kids was included in his message. “Wax wtf I will always love you bubba,” was the caption he posted.
Adam’s untimely death has shocked the Pawn Stars family and supporters, underscoring the terrible consequences of substance usage and how it may affect not just the addict but also their loved ones.
We are praying and thinking of the Harrison family during this difficult time.
